Make 2015 Your Year To Connect

The nice folks at LinkedIn have rolled out some updates to the look, feel, and navigation of your profile. Here are some of the highlights:

  • In-line Editing- When you view your profile, you can begin editing right from the page. Look for the Pencil symbols next to each section. Just click and begin editing.
  • View Profile Button- Clicking on the View profile button will show you how your profile looks to others that view your profile. Look for the button right below your profile picture.
  • Adding Sections- Adding sections to your profile just got easier. Look for the look for Add a section to you profile area in the space below your profile picture and summary.
  • Reordering Your Profile Sections- It appears that you can no longer reorder your profile sections.  In the prior release, when you were in edit mode, you used to have a vertical arrow ↕ to the right of each editable section that allowed you to drag-and-drop the section to another location.

The section order that I feature is:

  • Summary
  • Additional Info
  • Skills & Endorsements
  • Projects
  • Experience
  • Courses (That I deliver)
  • Organizations
  • Certifications
  • Education

Where we are in our careers should drive the order of the section in our profile. Having spent many years writing end-user test scripts; I suspect (I hope) this change was just an oversight. It works on I.E. (v9), but not on other versions of I.E. (v11) or Chrome (v39). Hopefully, this feature will return ASAP.
